- THE WESTERN FRONT FRENCH GUNFIRE (Reed. Dec. 6, 12 noon) LONDON, Dec. 5. A Paris war communique states that patrol and artillery activity was experienced during the night on certain points on the Western Front. A communique issued in Berlin states that further intensive artillery fire by the French in the frontier east of the Moselle • was experienced. Otherwise there was only slight activity. It is semi-ofilcially stated in Berlin that the veterans of 19i14-1918 arc gradually being demobilised. Younger German reserves arc replacing them.
