HELD BY COAST GUARD

YAWL’S GERMAN CREW (Reed. Dec. 7, Noon.) NEW YORK, Dec. G. A message from Wilmington, North Carolina, states that United States Coast Guards detained the yawl Lakola, manned by a German-speak-ing crew, for reasons which they declined to state. Officials subsequently disclosed that six homesick German sailors, former employees in an American oil tanker, were attempting to make contact and transfer to a German vessel, or failing that to sail directly to Germany. They may be permitted to continue if they post a bond guaranteeing to abstain from raiding activities.
