BLOWING OF SAFE

INTRUDERS UNSUCCESSFUL SECOND ATTEMPT IN WEEK The second safe-blowing incident in Wellington premises within a week occurred on Saturday night at the Denhard Bakery, 196 Adelaide road. This time, however, the intruders were unsuccessful. Entrance to the premises apparently had been effected by way of an unlocked window, and the office, situated at the centre of the factory building, had been entered by the removal of a small window.

The safe was blown with gelignite, but after the explosion the locks apparently sprang back into position and the intruders were unable to open it. An attempt had been made to saw off one of the lugs, but this was abandoned after considerable time had been spent.
