FAT CATTLE RISE
BETTER SHEEP DEMAND STORTFORD -LODGE (Pur Press Association.) HASTINGS, this day. With another small yarding of fat cattle on offer, prices in this section at the Stortford Lodge stock sale yesterday remained fully firm and occasionally, on a quality basis, showed an increase on last week’s rates. A small yarding was also offered in the store cattle section. The majority of the lines were nondescript lots, which soid fairly well. Wethers comprised the major portion of the store sheep offering, and met with a good and often an improved demand. Little alteration was noticeable in the fat sheep prices, the rates being firm on last week’s realisations. Prices were;—
Fat Cattle. —Small grown bullocks, £9 5s to £9 15s; heavier pens, £l2 2s 6d to £l2 7s ,pd. Heifers, best lines, £8 10s to £9 15s; lighter sor's from £7 10s. Cows, medium finish, to £7 18s 6d; heavier sorts to £8; tops, £9 5s to £lO.
Store Cattle.—Medium grown two-year-heifers, £4 6s to £4 9s; two-year steers, £5 10s; yearling heifers, £1 10s.
Store Sheep.—Four-tooth wethers, 19s 9d and 19s lid; good two-tooths, 16s 2d to 17s 6d ; lighter pens to 15s; ewes with lambs, 15s lOd, all counted; two-tooth ew'es in splendid order, 25s Bd.
Fat Sheep.—Prime heavy wethers. 23s lid to 24s 6d; medium, 20s to 22s 6d: heavy ewes, 17s to 19s; lighter entries, 16s 6d to 18s; lambs, to 23s -6d.
