King’s Housekeeper Retires

Retiring after 26 years at Windsor Castle, Mrs. S. Rawlings, the housekeeper, will spend the rest of her clays in a house which the King has provided her with in the grounds of Windsor. Mrs. Rawlings long has been a personal friend of all the members ol the Royal Family, and the King and Queen have promised that they will call and see her during their frequent walks to Frogmore. During the serious illness of the late King George V Mrs. Rawlings was the only person allowed in the sick room apart from Queen Mary, the doctors and the nurses. She personally prepared and carried in all the meals given to the King. When Queen Mary made the huge rooms in. the castle more homely it was Mrs. Rawlings who helped her. The present Queen followed this example when carrying our further modernisation of the State and private apartments.
