GISBORNE VISITORS QUINN MAY COMPETE DOMINION CHAMPION SATURDAY CARNIVAL The possibility that the popular Gisborne athlete, Graham Quinn, now a resident of Wellington, who was formerly the New Zealand 100 yds and 220yds champion, may be seen in competition with the present champion, P. F. Sharpley, the centre champion, R. V, Phillips, and other prominent sprinters in Gisborne on Saturday next was mentioned at a meeting of the committee of the Gisborne Amateur Athletic and Harrier Club last evening During the discussion of arrangements for Saturday night's electric light carnival on the Childers Road Reserve a telegram from Mr. Quinn was read, stating in reply to the club's invitation that he was endeavouring to visit his home town for the occasion. The following programme for Saturday’s sports was approved:— Running.—7s and 100yds ladies' handicaps; 100. 220, 440, 880yds and one-mile senior men’s handicaps; 100, 220yds and 880yds junior handicap; 880yds exhibition walk; 75yds invitation scratch race; 100yds schoolboys’ relay; 100yds schoolgirls’ relay. Fitold events: Pole vault, high jump and shot put handicap. Cycling: Halfmile and 11-mile senior handicaps; half-mile and one-mile junior handicaps. Entries close at the premises of Messrs.
