Mr. C. M. Pilkington, the Transport Department's inspector in Wairoa, has received advice of his transfer to Auckland as road traffic inspector for schools in the Auckland province. .He will take up his new duties early in February.—Special. Judge H. Carr, who attended the ceremony in Wellington last week when a portrait of the late Sir James Carroll was presented to the National Art Gallery on behalf of a committee of friends and admirers of the Maori statesman, returned to Gisborne last week-end.
