BREAK-UP INDICATED

WRECKED WAIKOUAITI CRACK ABAFT BRIDGE FAIRLY HEAVY SEAS (Tor Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, this day. After two days of rough weather the wreck of the Waikouaiti which is lying on the rocks on Dog Island now shows signs of breaking up.

A fairly heavy sen has been running since Sunday morning and a crack 2ft wide has now developed just abaft the bridge.

It is thought that if the rough weather continues the ship will break up and the stern half may slip into deep water. Any cargo easily available is being brought ashore by men who are watching the vessels movements.
