J antes —Hocking’ Beautiful Silk Velvet Clown A beautiful gown of white silk velvet was worn by Rae Flora, second daughter of Mrs. Hocking and the late Mr. C. H. Hocking, McLean street, Wairoa, for her marriage on Saturday evening to Reginald William. second son of Mr. and Mrs. D. R. James. Iranui road. Kaiti. Gisborne. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. N. H. Finch, in St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Wairoa, and Mrs. Finch played the wedding music and accompanied the hymn “O Perfect Love." The church had been prettily decorated by friends ot the bride in shades of pink and white. The bride entered the church on the arm of her uncle, Mr. T. S. Crarer. Her gown was cut on classical tines. The bodice was softly shirred and the cowl neckline was held in place by two diamante clips. The neckline was finished at the back with a row of tiny buttons. The light-fitting sleeves, pointed over the wrists, were high at the shoulders, and softly shirred. The skirt fell to form a graceful train, which was caught in three places with tiny posies of velvet flowers. The “something old" was the halo of orange blossom, which was worn by her grandmother and mother before her. This was. worn over a beautifully embroidered tulle veil, loaned by Mrs E. F. James, Gisborne. She carried a beautiful shower bouctuet of St. Joseph lilies, peony roser and maidenhair fern. Cousin As Bridesmaid In attendance on the bride was liei cousin. Miss Joan Tenney, Waipukurau, wearing an attractive frock of pink sprigged organdie, made in Early Victorian style, and trimmed with matching velvet ribbon bows. In her hair she wore a spray of pink flowers. She also wore a string of pearls, the gift of the bridegroom, and carried a dainty bouquet in tones of pink. Mr. Lyall Dick. Wairoa. was the best man. The bride’s mother wore an ensemble of London tan silk, with hat and shoes to tone, and carried a bouquet in autumn tints.
The bridegroom's mother had chosen a smart ensemble of navy and rose floral satin, with plain navy coat and hat, and shoes to tone. She also carried a bouquet of pink and rose carnations.
The bride’s grandmother wore an attractive ensemble of navy and white, and carried a beautiful bouquet of red roses.
The reception was held at Osier’s tearooms, where Mrs. Hocking, assisted by Mrs. James, received the guests. The artistic bouquets carried by the bridal party were made and presented by Mrs. G. Stuart.
On leaving for a tour of the North Island the bride travelled in a navy tailored costume and a powder blue summer felt hat.
Among the guests were Mr. .E. James, Mr. and Mrs. J. Egan, Mrs. P. Stevens and Mr. Trevor Stevens. Misses Fisher, Miss J. Hocking. Mr. and Mrs. 11. F. Moles and family, Gisborne.
