PROVED STAYER
An Auckland Cup candidate in Flood Tide seems to ho improved with the racing he had at Ellerslie, and on the second day lie bent all but Birth* day Boy and Balinnvar in the St. Andrew's Handicap. Flood Tide is a proved stayer, and the fact that he it showing a return to form after a long absence from active racing indicates that by Christmas he will probably bo -at bis peak, in which case he should claim seriou- eonsidernlion.
