BOY’S EYE BLACKENED BLOW IN THE FACE (Per Press Association.) GiREYMOUTH, this day. Stated by the police to have misdirected a blow aimed to chastise a boy, Clifford Charles Bowater, a sole teacher at Kokiri School, was fined £2 in the Magistrate's Court this morning on a dbarge of assaulting James William Rooney, a nine-year-old pupil. The defendant, who admitted that he struck the pupil on the face, resulting in the boy receiving a black eye and a bleeding nose, was stated to be under mental stress at the time.
