SCATTERED CONVOY SHIPS SAFELY REUNITED (Kino. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Rccd. Dec. 4. 9 a.m.) LONDON. Dec. 2. Flying low and battling against bad weather, a Royal Air Force Coastal Command plane shepherded a sca ftered convoy of merchant ships carrying 100,000 tons of foodstuffs, after the vessels had dispersed owing to a storm and a threatened attack by a submarine. The pilot, after searching an area of 50 square miles, discovered twofifths of the merchant ships and the destroyer escort. He asked for further information with a signalling lamp. He eventually found another tiwo-fifths and finally the remainder, and guided them until they were united.
