Sympathy for Finland and indignation against Russia is increasingly apparent in Scandinavia. Scandinavia is with Finland to a man. Sweden has suspended all military leave and is strengthening her defences. The Prime Minister of Sweden, M. Hansson, openly expressed admiration for Finland’s stand. Thousands of peopje assembled outside the Communist newspaper office in Stockholm, shouting: “Down with Russia.” Crowds earlier assembled at the Finnish Legation and sang Finnish national sings. Every window of the Russian Legation at Copenhagen was smashed. It is reliably stated in Stockholm that there is great diplomatic activity in Moscow by Sweden which made strong representations regarding, the developments in the Baltic. World Revolution A message from Oslo quotes the Norwegian paper Itisenstegn, which says: “This is world revolution on the march.” The newspaper adds: “Germany should now see what forces she has unleashed over Europe. The Allies should understand that peace is preferable to a beaten Sovietised Germany. The situation demands a strong Germany and a strong British Empire. If the belligerents do not acknowledge this they will increase the chances of victory for Soviet Imperialism.” Madrid messages quote the official Spanish news agency which announced: “The Germans well know they are paying the highest price for Russian friendship. Moscow will continue to do her utmost to benefit from Germany’s forced benevolence, nerr Hitter will again curse the war which has prevented him from fuliilling the promises which made him popular among those who wished to see the world freed from the Bolsnevist -menace." Part of Huge Plan Messages from Rome state that the Osservatore Romano considers the Russian invasion of Finland is part of a huge plan for Bolshevising nortnern Europe and the Balkans. The Rome correspondent of the Associated Press of Great Britain reported that 3000 uniformed Fascists demonstrated against the Russians in favour of Finland before the Russian and Finnish Embassies. The Colombian Minister in London sent a cablegram to the President of Finland, M. Kallio, containing a message from the President of Colombia expressing the deepest sympathy in Finland’s trial.
