SHEARERS IN CAMP

RELEASE ON APPLICATION

Individual applications front employers for the release of shearers from military duty will receive sympathetic consideration from the Man Power Committee, according to advice received at a meeting of the South Taranaki executive of the New Zealand Fanners’ Union at Hawcra.

The Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones, advised that, while it was not practicable to issue a general instruction for the release of shearers, a number of such men already had been released on the application of employers. It was suggested, therefore, that individual applications be made by employers to the Man Power Committee and sympathetic consideration would be given by the committee where the merits of the case warranted such action.
