GOLF CLUB'S SEASON DEPRECIATION COVERED WINNERS OF TROPHIES An excess of expenditure over income of £lB for the year, compared with a surplus of £3B for the previous year, is shown in the income and expenditure account to be presented on Monday, December 11, at the annual meeting of members of the Poverty Bay Golf Club. It is explained in the annual report that tiie expenditure included £IOO written off for depreciation of plant, making the depreciation fund stand at £290 7s 3d. The fund for improvements to buildings was increased by £45 from file proceeds of a dance, and other contributions and interest amounting to £94 17s 2ci brought tiie fund to £332 15s 9d. The club had completed the purchase of all tiie property, with the exception of a few perches. Club Champions The winners of the club’s principal trophies were:— Men. —Club championship. E. S. Toogood; Burke Stroke Championship Cup. E., S. Toogood; Reynolds Cup, W. ,1. Mclldowie; Hutchinson Cup, D. M. Mclldowie; J. H. Ormond Cup, R. W. J. Edwards, B. Bree Cup, I. £■ Bogey.

Water For Greens The report added that expenditure had been incurred in exploration efforts for a satisfactory supply of water, and it was hoped that some benefit would start to accrue by the watering of new trees and new greens. During the past season a report was received from Mr. C. 11. Redhead suggesting schemes for improving the lay-out of the course, particularly at the third and fourth holes. Preparatory work had been carried out. Thanks were accorded to the ladies’ committee responsible for the undoubted success of the eatcrf.ig, to the green-keeper, Mr. R. Hansen, and his assistant, Mr. M. Ashton, to the professional, Mr. A. E. Guy. and to the press.
