BERLIN SILENCE
FEARS OF PUBLIC FEELING FOR FINNS BUDAPEST VOICES CHEERS FOR DEFENDERS (Reed. Dec. 2, 1.15 p.m.) LONDON, Dec. 1. A Berlin message states that the German public is still completely ignorant of the Russian invasion, which is not mentioned by the German newspapers or radio. Neutral observers express the opinion that German officialdom is embarrassed by the latest developments, recognising that the German public sympathies with the Finns and would greatly resent the Bolshevik threat to their independence. A Budapest message states that all members of the Hungarian Parliament joined in cheers for Finland. The Nazi leader, M. Mesko. said: “Finland is forced to bear arms for its defence and freedom."
