FAREWELL DANCE
WAIPIRO BAY FUNCTION MAORIS FOR TRENTHAM (Herald Correspondent.) On Wednesday evening a farewell dance was held in the Waipiro Bay Hall as a farewell to three East Coast Maoris who are leaving for Trentham shortly, the sponsors being Messrs. T. R. Tamepo and 11. Heke. The guests or honour were Messrs. S. Mcllroy, M. Harrison, and T. Kopua. The hall was decorated with red, white and blue streamers, and a delightful supper was provided by the ladies. The dance music was provided by Mrs. Pare Tamati’s orchestra, Mr. G. Te Rui’e playing the extras. Speeches were made by Messrs. C. Nurse, S. Maraki, and T. R. Tamepo. Mr. S. Mathieson responded on behalf of the 1 guests of honour, while Mr. S. Kopua, on behalf of all three, thanked the gathering for the generous purses provided for each of them. Many friends from Ruatoria, Jerusalem and Te Puia were present. % Among those present were Mesdames S. Mcllroy. H. Fox, J. Brown, C. Nurse. 11. McFarlane, P. Tamati, W. Henry, H.
