GOLDEN WEDDING
MR. AND MRS. D. COUPER FRASERTOWN FUNCTION THE OLDEST RESIDENTS A large number of both young and old residents g'athered in the Kowhai Hall, Frasertown, on Monday night to celebrate the golden wedding of Mr. and Mrs. D. Couper. The hall was beautifully decorated with gold streamers, horseshoes and bells. Mrs. Couper, who was in a brown floral marocain dress with a white velvet coatee, was assisted by her daughter Nancy in receiving the guests. Miss Couper was dressed in an evening frock of maroon net over taffeta trimmed with gold. A (beautifully iced three-tier wedding cake took pride of place in the centre of the table. Mr. and Mrs. Couper are the oldest residents in Frasertown. A toast was proposed to the old couple by Mr. A. Beckett, musical honours being accorded. Mr. Phillips presented the happy pair with a bronze fire screen and kerb, and also a gold tea-set. During supper many telegrams of congratulation were read. On entering the hall Mrs. Couper was presented with a gold horse-shoe and a posy from her grandchildren. It was well after midnight when the happy gathering joined in singing "Auld Lang Syne." Mr. and Mrs. Couper have a family of eight children, comprising Mrs. F. Green. Gisborne; Mrs. W. Green. Frasertown: Mr. 11. Couper, VVairoa; Mrs. H. Edwards, Waipawa; Mrs. G. Couper, Frasertown: Mr. P. Couper, Auckland; Mrs. W. Grant. Frasertown; Miss N. Couper, Frasertown. There are 24 grandchildren and one greatgrandchild.
