NOT POPULAR
Although the totalisalor showed an increase of £1766 the For bury system of betting was not popular with the majority of followers, says the Southland Times. The dividends on the win machine were unusually small and in One race in which there were nine starters as many as five dividends were paid out. The system came in for much criticism among owners and trainers, and it is only the club which benefits from such a wide distribution of the dividends. Other clubs have conducted record meetings under the win-and-place system of betting, but the Forbury Park Club is set on continually; changing its method of betting.
