AUCKLAND-WELLINGTON LUKEY’S HARD RIDE (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. After a gruelling journey from Auckland, L. G. Lukey, the Christchurch professional cyclist, arrived at Wellington G.P.O. at 3.28 yesterday afternoon, 3hr. 13min. ahead of the record set up by O. Barnard, New Plymouth, having taken 31hr. 58min. This time would have been considerably better had not the weather been adverse dll the wav:' Lukey was to have left Auckland on Monday morning, but had to postpone his departure till 7.30 on Wednesday' morning. Even then the weather could have been better, but as the forecasts were unfavourable it was decided l to waste no further time.
