Mr. C. Hassell, of the Napier town clerk’s staff, who offered at the outbreak of war to serve in the mercantile marine to relieve officers for naval service, has had his offer accepted by the Union Company. As Mr. Hassell is secretary of the Centennial Celebrations Committee, the company has been advised that hi ( s services cannot be spared until the town’s centennial celebrations in February.
