NEW POWER LINE

: ARAPUNI TO PENROSE Good progress is being made with the erection of an additional 110,000volt power line between Arapuni and Penrose. The line, which is of the two-circuit type,' is intended to improve the transmission service between the power station at Arapuni and Auckland, ■ and to make it less possible for the city electrical supply to be interrupted. Steel towers 100 ft. high are being erected between the terminals. Nearly- two-thirds of these towers have been built and work is proceeding between Te Miro and Arapuni.

The whole work should be completed and the line livened before the next heavy winter load sets in.
