BUY FROM BRITAIN

APPEAL FROM MINISTER AID FOR WAR EFFORT (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The effect of the United States neutrality legislation on New Zealand's overseas trade was explained by the Minister of Finance, the Hon. W. Nash, in a broadcast last night. The Minister, who stressed the necessity of cutting down imports from foreign sources, said that every commodity purchased during the war outside the British commonwealth depleted the funds available for the purchase of munitions and supplies. New Zealanders could make their major contribution to the assistance of the United Kingdom and France by purchasing goods exclusively of New Zealand origin. Commodities that had lo be imported should be obtained as far as possible from the United Kingdom.
