Last Night’s Forecast
•General situation: An intense anticyclone is still centred beyond Chatham Island, while pressure is now commencing to tall in southern New Zealand. Forecast: Winds north-easterly over the North Island and between northeasterly and north-westerly elsewhere, lorce, moderate to strong generally and probably rising to gale force later in the South Island. Seas: Rough north of East Cape and about Cape Egmont. Moderate to rather rough elsewhere and rising later south of Farewell Spit and about Cook and Fovcaux Straits. Eastern Tasman Sea: Fresh to strong northerly winds and rather rough to rough seas, but wind and sea increasing later in the southern portion. Weather: Unsettled in tile western districts of the South Island with rain and some showers probable at first also in those of the North Island, otherwise fair. Temperatures: Mild to warm generally and becoming very warm cast of the Southern Alps.

Overcast conditions still prevail in it ost parts of the North Island this morning. The wind was north-easterly, moderate to strong north of Gisborne and slight to fresh from Gisborne southwards. General situation: The anticyclone near Chatham Island is moving eastward and pressure in the Dominion is commencing to fall. Forecast: Moderate to strong northeasterly winds, scattered light rain chiefly in the north but weather otherwise fair and mild. Seas: Rather rough, with an easterly swell.
