Last Night’s Forecast

•General situation: An intense anticyclone is still centred beyond Chatham Island, while pressure is now commencing to tall in southern New Zealand. Forecast: Winds north-easterly over the North Island and between northeasterly and north-westerly elsewhere, lorce, moderate to strong generally and probably rising to gale force later in the South Island. Seas: Rough north of East Cape and about Cape Egmont. Moderate to rather rough elsewhere and rising later south of Farewell Spit and about Cook and Fovcaux Straits. Eastern Tasman Sea: Fresh to strong northerly winds and rather rough to rough seas, but wind and sea increasing later in the southern portion. Weather: Unsettled in tile western districts of the South Island with rain and some showers probable at first also in those of the North Island, otherwise fair. Temperatures: Mild to warm generally and becoming very warm cast of the Southern Alps.
