Farm Labour Demand

At to-day’s meeting of the Waikohu County Council, Cr. M. Doyle referred to the formation in the district of a Primary Production Council, and gave members of the council an outline of what was proposed under the national scheme of promoting primary industry. Cr. Doyle mentioned in particular the matter of farm labour supply, and advised ail farmers in need of labour to get in touch with the Social Security Department’s office in Gisborne and register there the amount of assistance they would require. Only by such means could the labour demand for primary production be gauged, he pointed out. Without the information the farmers alone could supply, the Government could not hone to cope with the situation.
