Reports from Paris .state that the ; Polish liner Pilsudski was torpedoed j and sunk off the coast of Britain. ; j One-hundred and seventy-one sur- [ j vivors were landed. Seven are bet i lieved to be missing, j A British destroyer landed 67 Poles j and nine Britons at a British port. ! The Pilsudski was a former luxury liner and was chartered by the Royal Navy. A Stockholm message states that it is uncertain whether a miner or engine trouble damaged the Swedish oil tanker, Gustav Feu ter, off the north coast of Britain, onroute to Curacao in ballast. A trawler responded to the S.O.S. and rescued If) iof the crew. Two lifeboats put cut | for the remainder. A message from Esbjerg, Jutland, states that fishermen are paid £2 apiece for each drifting mine they explode with rifles. Ammunition is provided by the Danish Government, while 8s is the reward for informing a patrol ship of the wnerealouts of a none.
