SHEEP AT MATAWHERO SALE IN A DOWNPOUR There was an upward tendency in the store sheep values at the Matawhero stock sale to-day, when a portion of the sale was conducted in a downpour. Beef The market for beef was easier, station cows making to £B. Jersey cows to £5 18s, and several only from £3 to £4. Prices: — Vealers. —One good Shorthorn, £2 ss; 1 do., Jersey heifer, £2 ss; 5 good runners, £3 Bs, £3 Is, £2 4s and £2 2s. Cows.—Two, Jersey, £3; 1. Jersey, £3 7s (id; 2, solid, red, £0 19s; 1, good, Shorthorn (p), £5; 2, good weight, Jersey, £4 15s; 1, good, Jersey, £4 10s; 1, Jersey cross, £3 12s; 1, good. Jersey, £5 18s; 1, heavy bodied, Jersey, £5 6s; 1, prime, small, Jersey, £5 ss; 2, average, Jersey, £4 6s; 1, average, Jersey, £3 ss; 2, good. Jersey, £4 9s; 1, good, 'Jersey, £5 10s; 1, good, Jersey, £4 15s; 2, good, finished, £8; 1 small Hereford bullock, £6 12s 6d; 2 Jersey bullocks, £4 17s; 1 P.A. prime steer, £6; 1 Jersey bullock, £4 ss. Heifers. —One good Jersey, £4 10s; 3, Jersey, £3 10s. Heavy Bullocks.—£9 15s and £ll 10s. Fat Sheep Shorn Ewes.—'Nineteen, good, 16s 2d; 25, sound mouths (p), 17s 3d; 14, 14s 8d; 9,14 s 8d; 37, 15s lOd; 5,15 s 3d. Woolly Ewes. —-Five (p), 19s; 9, 265; 4,18 s. Store Sheep The sale of store sheep provided values that were firm to improving. Wethers sold at 16s 2d and 17s, woolly ewes with lambs to 28s 7d, 2-tooth ewes to 23s 9d, and shorn Southdown 2-tooths to 16s 4d. Prices: — Store Ewes.-—Forty-five, 3, 4 and 5year, fat, 17s 6d; 46, aged, forward, (p) 10s; 53, forward, 12s; 18, 6-tooth, fat, (p) 19s 9d: 13, medium condition, 8s; 14, forward, JOs 9d; 5, fair condition, (is Id. Southdown 2-tooths. —Fifty-one, with condition, 16s 4d; 55, next cut of last pen, 15s 8d; 15, tail-Line of last, 15s; 28, good condition, average size, 14s 7d. Wethers.—Ninety-six, good condition, 2-tooths, 14s 8d; 70, 2-tooths, fairly good size and condition, 14s 7d; 98, good solid 2-tooths, 16s 2d; 102, good store condition, 2-tooth, 15s; 51, 2tooths, full of condition, 17s.
Woolly Ewes and Lambs.—Seventyeight ewes and 77 lambs, all good, 28s 7d; 15 ewes and 13 lambs, good condition, 23s Id.
Shorn Ewes and Lambs.—Twentynine ewes and 29 lambs, good mouths, good condition, medium lambs, 21s Cd.
Two-tooth Ewes. —One hundred ana four, medium size, in good order, 19s Gel; 59, good size and condition, 23s 9d; 250, as last, 22s 8d; 54, good condition, average size, 235.
