(Elcc. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.)

(British Official Wireless.) Reed. 9 a.m. RUGBY, Nov. 22,

A Hamburg news broadcast in English on November 21 and the Deutschlandsender on November 22 claimed that German reconnaissance flights over England have continued without opposition, and specifically stated that British planes which took off were unable to intercept the raiders.

The facts are that British lighters recently brought down the following raiders: On November 20, a German Heinkel, 111, which was chased out to sea. The next day the crew of this machine was picked up from a rubber boat off Orford Ness. Their names are Leitenant Wilhelm Meyer, suffering from a scalp injury received in the crash, Ober-Seldwebel ‘ Gardhardt Ricketsen, suffering from a machinegun wound, Unter-Oflizier Theodor Stcxrer. slightly hurt ih the crash. On November 21 a Dornier 17, twinengined reconnaissance aircraft was engaged by British fighters over Deal and brought down in the sea 10 miles off Gris Nez. The wreckage was salvaged but there were no survivors. At almost the same time a Heinkel 111 was brought down off Boulogne by a British fighter stationed in France. The Hamburg wireless states that Allied reconnaissance aircraft displayed no great activity on November 20, but in fact British aircraft flew over Bremen and Hamburg on that day and over Dusseldorf, Stuttgart and Frankfurt on November 21. All British aircraft returned safely from these trips. The latter details form the substance of this evening's Air Ministry announcement.
