FORCED LANDING MADE

AIR FORCE MACHINE PETROL EXHAUSTED A forced landing was made by a Gipsy Moth aeroplane owned by the Royal New Zealand Air Force and piloted by Flying-Officer S. G. Quill, of Hobsonville, on the property of Mr. J. H. Taylor, at Matangi, at 11.30 a.m. on Tuesday. The landing was made necessary owing to shortage of petrol. Supplies were replenished from Hamilton after some delay, and Flying-Officer Quill, who had been returning from a ilight along the west coast, resumed his journey to his base at Hobsonville at 2.30 p.m.

The landing was skilfully made in a fairly level paddock, and no difficulty was experienced in taking off. No damage was done to the machine.
