CALF CLUB PARADE
DISTRICT SCHOOLS COMBINED DISPLAY CENTRAL COMM ITTEE Arrangements for this year's distinct schools' calf club parade were made at a meeting of the central call parade committee held in Gisborne, Mr. P. T. Weeks presiding over Messrs. .J. T. Herbert. M. S. Mooney. F. R. Bould. C. G. Calvert, R. I. Harrison, R. N. Grono, and the secretary, Mr. W. E. Chamberlain. Advice was received from the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company. Limited, that Mr. R. L. I-lorne, Hamilton, would be pleased to judge at the parade, providing he was in the district at the time. It was agreed that, failing Mr. Horne being available. Mr. N. F. Burrows, Manutuke. should be asked to adjudicate. Mr. W. .1. Simpson agreed to judge the pet lamb classes. It was reported that there was still a deficit in the accounts for the past year's parade. Mr. Harrison stated that tiie Poverty Bay Boys and Girls Club would donate 14s 3d towards the deficiency. Mr. Weeks announced that the Tolaga Bay Club would donate £1 Is. and tiie Poverty Bay Jersey Cattle Club C2 2s towards the 1939 parade.
No action was taken regarding the class for yearlings in the programme. Mr. F. R. Bould was appointed marshal for the parade, Mr. Calvert to arrange for the stewards. Transport Arrangements
The committee agreed to subsidise tlie cost of transporting calves from the Motu district. Mr. Harrison reported that the Waikohu club would arrange its own transport. Mr. C. 11. Cooper was deputed to arrange for transport for Ngatapa, Patutahi, Manutuke, Kaitaratahi. Waeranga-a-hika, Ormond and Makauri.
Prize-money was arranged as follows, the amounts mentioned being the value of orders: —Calves, first, £2 2s; second. £1 Is; third. 15s; fourth, Os. Lambs, first. 10s: second, ss; third, 2t Od. It was decided also to hold a judging competition for club members.
It was decided to invite Mr. J. S. Wauchop, deputy-chairman of the Hawke’s Bay Education Board, to open the parade, and also to ask Messrs. E. 11. Baker and A. T. Coleman, other board members, to participate. The secretary reported that at last year’s parade 11 schools were represented with 33 calves.
