ALLEGED STABBING

CLASH ON STEAMER GREASER CHARGED (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. As a sequel to the alleged stabbing affray aboard an overseas vessel at Central Wharf on Saturday night, John Reilly, a refrigerating greaser, aged 52, was charged in the Police Court to-day with assaulting Charles Hunter so as to cause him actual bodily harm. Three members of the crew gave evidence concerning the altercation which occurred after some of the crew returned to the vessel after drinking ashore.

The magistrate, Mr. J. Morling, adjourned the hearing until December 4, when the police said that Hunter would be present to give evidence. When counsel applied for bail, the police said that Hunter, when admitted to hospital, was in a very serious condition through loss of blood from injuries, allegedly caused by the use of a knife. Bail was refused.
