VIOLENT EXPLOSION

VESSEL STILL FLOATS

EFFORTS AT SALVAGE

(Reed. Nov. 23, 12 noon) LONDON, Nov. 22. The Italian steamer Fianona struck a mine off the south-east coast of England. The hull was split in twain. It is believed that none of the 33 members of the crew were injured. ■ The hull apparently split above the water level. The shiD was almost empty and therefore was more buoyant. Efforts are being made to tow her to a port.

The violent explosion shook coastal residences.
