STORE CATTLE FIRM
FAT STOCK EASIER STORTFORD LODGE (Per Press Association.! HASTINGS, this day. Fat cattle met with a weaker market at the Stoftford Lodge stock sale yesterday, when prices showed a noticeable drop. Heavy bullocks particularly suffered, none being sold although fine entries came forward. Competition was quiet throughout. A small yarding of good quality store cattle met with a much firmer market, the majority of lines selling strongly. Fat sheep met with a market showing very little change from last week, prices remaining fairly firm on a quality basis. Store sheep sold to an easier demand, values for wethers showing the biggest drop. Realisations were:—
Fat Cattle. —Medium-framed forward bullocks, passed at £9 10s to £11; heavier pens, passed. £l3 to £l3 ss: heifers, good quality. £7 17s Gd to £9 2s; cows, extra prime, to £lO lO.s, others £9 to £9 15s.
Store Cattle.—Forward four-year bullocks, £9 10s; three-year steers, £8 10s; cows with calves at foot. £4 17s Gd to £4 19s; forward empty cows, £5 Gs. Fat Sheep.—Extra prime ewes, 20s 2d; o'hers, 18s Gd to 20,5: Southdown cross two-tooths 15s to 17s, wethers 21s 9d to 225.
Store Sheep.—Forward early-shorn four-tooth wethers, 17s 4d; twotooths, 15s 7d; lighter pens, 14s lOd to 15s sd: poorer pens to 11s; ewes with lambs, 13s 9d.
