THE JOKER
LONDON, Oct. 16. Music-hall comedian Tom Connor, knocked down by a car during a blackout near his home in Brook Drive, Lambeth, S.E., went on joking until he died. A friend said at the inquest: “He described the accident by saying, 'I had climbed up a tree and the car chased me.’ ” The verdict was “accidental death.”
