JURY AWARDS £1750
CLAIM BY HUSBAND WIFE’S DEATH IN SMASH (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. After an hour's retirement a jury in the Supreme Court in the Okaihau claim in which Richard Marsh claimed £2522 damages from Norman A’bsolum respecting the death of the plaintiff’s wife after a collision with the defendant's car, driven by a Maori, William Paki, found that Paki had no intention of using the defendant’s car in such a way as to commit suicide'or to cause injury to his son and also that he did not intentionally drive the car into Mrs. Marsh’s car. They found the collision was due to Paki’s" negligence and assessed the damages suffered by the plaintiff at £1(100 and by his two daughters at £75 each. Both counsel moved for judgment. Mr. Justice Fair reserved iiis judgment until later.
