102ND BIRTHDAY
MRS. T. G. MARLOW GOOD HEALTH ENJOYED Still remarkably active and alert, Mrs. T. G. Marlow, of 15 Wilding avenue, Epsom, Auckland, celebrated her 102nd birthday yesterday. Her full and interesting life spans bans to the year in which Queen Victoria came to the Throne, so that she ha.lived through the reigns of four Sovereigns and into that of a fifth.
Mrs. Marlow was born in London on November 10, 1837, and came to New Zealand in IBGS. In the following year she married the late Mr. IVlarlow, the ceremony being performed in Dunedin by the Rev. Dr. Stewart, ol Knox Chinch. Move to the North Alter working for various warehouse firms in Dunedin, Mr. Marlow secured similar employment in Auckland, and they moved north in 180 i. L.ater Mr. ana Mrs. Marlow were engaged in farming for 10 years on a 1000-acre block at Katikati. Then iollowed a period of 20 years, during which Mr. Marlow was on the clerical staff of the Waihi Gold Mining Company at Waikino. He was well past 80 years when he retired, and he died in February, 1930, aged 92.
Although she has ’ suffered occasional illness in recent years, Mrs. Marlow has been in excellent health for the past 12 months. She is sometimes taken ,'on outings to various parts of the city. Memories of Many Wars Many wars figure in Mrs. Marlow's long memory, and she is sorry that another lias broken out. News of the progress of the war and of other happenings she closely follows in the daily newspapers, and she is especially interested in the welfare of the soldiers. In addition to the newspapers, Mrs. Marlow reads books constantly, she continues to knit and sew, and occasionally writes a letter to an old friend.
