CAUGHT BY ENGINE
| AUCKLAND BOY’S ORDEAL Caught by the engine of an Auck-land-Swanson train when he was running over the St. Jude's street level ; crossing, Avondale, a 10-year-old boy j was carried for more than a quarter of a mile on the cowcatcher before the train was stopped. Tile driver was not aware of the accident until he , noticed that shingle from the track j was being thrown up in front of the engine. When the train was stopped jit was found that the boy’s had ! been caught between the track and the cowcatcher. | The injured lad was Kenneth Alfred Waldron, son of Mr. A. R. Waldron, of Ash street, Avondale. He was coni scious when he was pulled Gear with smnc difficulty by the engine crew. His leg was extensively lacerated and he suffered severe shock.
