GISBORNE WEDDING BECKETT—BLAIR EXQUISITE BRIDAL FROCK On Saturday afternoon. Holy Trinity Church, Derby street, was filled with guests to witness Hie marriage of Jeanette, youngest daughter of Mr, and Mrs. James Blair, lranui road, Gisborne, and Jack Randal, only son of Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Beckett, Stout street, Gisborne.
The ceremony was performed by Canon A. F. Hall, and Mr. D. G. Dyer presided at the organ. The church had been most artistically decorated by friends of the bride, who, besides being very popular, is a member ot' a well-known Gisborne family. Enormous bowls of mixed flowers, irises, arum lilies and watsonia predominating, adorned the chancel, and quaint blue and white posies, carrying out the colours of the bridal party, were attached to the ends of the pews in which the guests were seated.
The petite bride, who was escorted by her father, looked charming in a frock of white self-patterned Swiss muslin exquisite in its simplicity. The bodice was softly gathered into a square neckline cut high at the back and edged with narrow insertion and Valenciennes lace caught at one side with a sprig of orange blossom. The long closely-mouldecl sleeves were narrowly edged with lace at the wrist, and the gracefully dared corselet skirt swept into a long train. Her filmy veil of tulle was held in place with a chaplet ol ostrich leathers and was worn over the face on entering the church. She wore sandals of white brocade and plaited silver lame, and carried a sheaf of blue delphiniums tied with white ribbons. Bridesmaids In Picture Frocks The bridesmaids were Miss Molly Smith. Patutahi; Miss Lois Miles, and Miss Valerie Harding. Waipukurau. Each wore a picture frock of palest blue Swiss muslin printed in a floral design in a deeper shade ot blue, showing a bodice gathered into a square neckline edged with narrow insertion of Valenciennes lace, and short puff sleeves also finished with lace. The high-waisted voluminous skirt, just revealed blue satin slippers. and a wide sash of white selfpatterned Swiss muslin, tied in a bow at the back with long ends trailing on the ground, defined the waist. A bow of blue velvet caught in the hair at the back made an attractive headdress, and each attendant carried a sheaf of blue delphiniums.
The bridegroom was attended by Mr. D. F. Muir, as best man, and Mr. P. Blair, brother of the bride, and Mr. H. Biddles carried out the duties of ushers. Delightful Garden Party After the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Blair entertained a large number of guests at a delightful garden party at their home in lranui road.
The weather was all that could be desired for an out-door function, and the lovely grounds, with many bright flower beds splashing the wide stretches of lawn with colour, formed a charming setting for the gay and animated scene. Afternoon tea was served in a large marquee erected on the lawn at a table adorned with crystal vases of cornflowers effectively arranged round the beautiful four-tier wedding cake, surmounted with roses in golden tonings, and also at small tables picturesquely placed under the trees. The health of the bride and bridegroom, proposed by Dr. J. W. Williams, was acknowledged bv the bridegroom, who proposed a toast to the bridesmaids, Mr. D. F. .Muir responding. The health ot the parents of the bride and bridegroom was proposed by Mr. L. Miles. A wedding bell composed of white roses, carnations and stocks was suspended above the entrance to the portico, and indoors the various sittingrooms were massed with a wealth of mixed summer blooms. Richly-tinted roses shed their fragrance in the drawing-room, and here a wonderful array of wedding gifts was displayed. Elegant Frocks Mrs. Blair, mother of the bride, was wearing an elegant frock of navy blue needle-run lace made with long close-fitting sleeves and a Vshaped neckline accented with a diamante ornament. The long skirt was slightly flared and was finished with a swathed belt of lace fastened with an antique buckle. A hat of navy chip straw trimmed with a matching veil caught in flowers in cyclamen tonings, and a bouquet of stocks, roses and carnations shading from palest cyclamen to deep mauve completed her toilette.
Mrs. Beckett, mother of the bridegroom, wore a graceful frock of midnight blue lace appliqued in a floral design in matching satin on the long sleeves and also on the corsage, which was cut with a high semi-cowl neckline. Her hat of matching ballibuntal straw was ornamented with cycla-men-tinted roses, and a bouquet of mixed flowers in contrasting shades of cyclamen was carried.
Miss Mona Blair, sister of the bride, looked extremely smart in a frock of iris blue deque accented with touches of narrow ruching and a fish net turban to match finished with a silver and diamante dagger.
Mrs. J. L. Bellerby, Waercnga-o-kuri, aunt of the bride, was wearing h navy blue and white ensemble of crepe romaine with a navy blue straw hat trimmed with a cluster of field flowers. Her bouquet was composed of crimson roses and blue irises. Miss D. Beckett, Wellington, cousin uf the bridegroom, chose a frock of London tan cloque printed in white, and a wide-brimmed white hat. The bride travelled in a smart ensemble of smoke grey cloque. The skirt was finely pleated and horizontal lucks ornamented the bodice, which was fastened down the front with large matching buttons. The coatee showed short sleeves and touches of quilting.
