N.Z. AIRMAN'S FIGHT

FORMER WELLINGTONIAN SQUADRON-LEADER KAIN (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. It appears certain that the Wellington pilot who single-handed brought down a German Dormer plane over the British lines in France on November 9, is Acting-Squadron-Leader Edgar Kain, a son of Mr. R. G. Kain, of Wadestown, Wellington. Acting-Squadron - Leader Kain trained at Rongotai aerodrome, Wellington, and completed his training at Wigram aerodrome, Christchurch. He left for England afterward with his parents in 1930 and qualified for the Royal Air Force. On arrival, he rose rapidly and was promoted to acting-squadron-leader shortly before the outbreak of war. He is one of the youngest men in the Royal Air Force, holding the rank of acting-squadron-leader.
