WOOL VALUING

GISBORNE FIXTURE 6000 BALES AVAILABLE START NEXT FRIDAYNO COAST DATES NAMED An announcement, that the first wool appraisement, would commence in Gisborne next Friday reached the Gisborne Woolbrokers' Association by telegram yesterday afternoon, but no mention was made of the valuations on the Coast, A statement made last night by the Minister of Marketing, the Hon. W. Nash, confirmed the Gisborne date, and mention was made also of other North Island appraisements, but neither Tokomaru Bay nor Tolaga Bay was included, while it seems that little time will be available for Coast valuations, for the appraisers are due in Napier and Wellington four clays after the start of operations in Gisborne,

Question of Coast Before the Gisborne date was announced, brokers, in Gisborne believed that the appraisers would hardly come to Gisborne without also visiting the Coast, particularly as the Tokomaru Bay appraisement store is already full, Definite information is being sought by brokers, but during the morning no enlightenment had been secured. It is staled that between 0500 and 7000 bales will be available and on display by Friday, while if there is a good spell of weather during the early part of ne>:t week the amount should be increased. A greater quantity would hav t ' been available, possibly 10,000 bales, if the weather conditions had not been so broken, for shearing has been delayed considerably as a result of frequent showers.. New Wool Store Arrangements have been made by Messrs. Williams and Kettle. Limited to erect a new wool store in Awapuni road to deal with the heavy consignments expected. This will be merely a bulk store designed to hold wool either before or after appraisement in the firm's display store, which is situated in Customhouse street. A start has, been made already with the foundations, and all expedition is to be used in going on with the job, which is expected to be completed by Christmas, The store will cover approximately a quarter of an acre, and will hold about 3000 bales.
