FAREWELL DANCE (Herald Correspondent.) A most enjoyable dance organised by the hole! staff was held in the Matawai Hail to bid farewell to Mr. F. Jones, who was leaving for Clcvedon, and had been a popular member of the staff of the Matawai Post Office for It, years. On behalf of the settlers and residents of Matawai, Mr. J. W. Smith presented a leather suitcase to Mr. Jones. Mr. Coombe presented him with a gold-mounted fountain pen from the hotel staff, and he was also the recipient of a gift from the Maoris. Messrs. W. F. Robb and C. Matches also spoke in his favour. Mr. Jones suitably responded. Music was supplied by Mrs. Burburough. A savoury supper was provided by the stall' of the Matawai Motel. Mrs. C. V. Smith left on Wednesday tor Wellington, where she will attend the wedding of her niece, Miss M. Baker. She also will pay a visit to her daughter at Otaki.—Mr. F. Jones left on Tuesday for Clevedon, near Auckland.
