GOOD SHEEP SALE
DEMAND AT MATAWHERO FATS AND STORES BRISK SMALL CATTLE YARDING Both fat and store sheep sold well at the Matawhero saleyards to-day, the demand being brisk throughout. Cattle were yarded in very small numbers, and the effect of the recent Cattle Fair was evident in a decided slackening of interest. Beef Only 11 head were yarded, and bidding was quiet, the best price being £9 Is for a prime Hereford heifer. Cows made to £6 12s 6d and £7 2s for medium sized licrefords, with Jersey cows selling to £4 10s. Prices: Heifers.—Two, Jersey, medium finish, £3 15s; 1, Jersey, unfinished, £3 7s; 1, prime Hereford, £9 Is. Cows.—One good small Hereford. £7 2s; 1, Jersey, £4; 2, young, Jersey, £4 8s; 2. well-finished, Jersey, £4 10s; 1, good, Hereford, £6 12s Gd. Fat Sheep
There was a very brisk sale for fat sheep. Shorn ewes were inclined to be firmer, making from 14s 5d to lGs 9d. Woolly ewes went to 19s 9d and 20s lOd, and shorn Southdown hoggets to lGs 7d. Prices:
Shorn Ewes.—Seven, including one wether, 14s 8d; 22, 15s 7d; 5,14 s sd: 11, 16s 9d; 15, 15s 4d.
Woolly Ewes.—Twelve, great finish and skins, 22s lOd; 3G, 19s 9d; 2 ewes and one wether, 225; 8 shorn Southdown hoggets, 16s 7d; 5, heavy woolly wethers, 255.

The entry totalled approximately 1600, and the sale was remarkably brisk. Wethers went to 15s 1;1 and 16s, with medium sorts in great demand at from 13s to 14s. Store ewes were brisk at 9s 4d to 10s Bd. Ewes and lambs were unchanged, shorn lots going to 23s Gd and woolly to 265. Shorn 2-tooth ewes went from 21s to 25s 4d for good pens. Prices (lots shorn unless otherwise stated): Wethers.—One hundred and sixtyfour, fairly good size, good condition, 13s 7d; 130, good size, 2-tooths, good condition, 15s Id; 260, as last, 14s lOd; 79. mostly 4-tooths, in good order, 16s; 225, 2-tooths, good average size and condition, 19s 2d; 25, 2-tooth's, medium size and condition. 13s; 60 2-tooths, fairly good size and condition, 13s. -
Woolly Wether Hoggets.—Fiftyseven, good size and condition, 19s 6d; 16, big lusty Southdowns, ,18s sd.
Ewes and Lambs.—Ten good conditioned store ewes and 10 good lambs, 23s «d; 10 fairly good conditioned woolly ewes and 10 late lambs, 21s 3d; 11 good conditioned shorn ewes and 12 good lambs, 23s Id; 7 good conditioned woolly ewes with 7 good lambs, 25s 9d; 2 of each, good, woolly, 265.
Store Ewes,—Twenty-four, in good order, 9s lOd; 46, in good order, fair teeth, 9s 4d; 29, in good order, 10s Id; 25, good, forward, 10s Bd. Two-tooth Ewes.—Forty-eight, good average size and condition, 22s 8d; 35, well-grown, full of condition, 24s 9d; 71, well-grown, in good order, 22s 8d; 11, woolly, with size and condition, 25s 4c!; 38, good average size, fresh condition, 21s; 32, good average size arid condition. 22s 2d.
