RETIREMENT RUMOUR

NAZI FOREIGN, MINISTER PRESSURE OF ARMY COMPROMISE SUGGESTED (Reed. Nov. 17, 9 a.m.) PARIS. Nov. 16. Le Journal publishes a sensational but quite unconfirmed report that the Nazi Foreign Minister, Herr von Ribbentrop, is shortly retiring as a result of pressure by the army, which believes that the Nazis have fulfilled their mission of making Germany the dominant Power in Europe and should be replaced by a saner type of Government.

The army’s programme aims at compromising with the Allies by allowing independence to Bohemia, Moravia, Slovakia and Poland, but retaining Sudetenland and Austria. Le Journal suggests that either Field-Marshal Goering, Baron von Neurath, or Herr Wilhelm Bohle would succeed Herr von Ribbentrop.
