General Situation: An extensive anticyclone centred north-west of the North Island extends over the Dominion, but a disturbance appears to be forming west of the South Island.
Forecast: Winds moderate to strong north-westerly to south-westerly but gradually tending more northwesterly. Seas: In New Zealand waders rather rough north of Wanganui, otherwise slight to moderate but rising somewhat about Cook Strait and on the west coast of the South Island. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate southwest winds and moderate seas in the northern portion, freshening norlhy westerly winds and rising seas in the southern area. Weather: Some scattered rains in western districts and far south, but weather otherwise fair and mild.

The barometric pressure along the East Coast was steady this morning at a moderately high level. Blue skies were reported at all points between Tauranga and Cape PaUiser, the weather being overcast at Wellington, while Auckland reported intermittent drizzle. Moderate breezes were general. northerlies prevailing over a large section- of lire Coast area. The highest temperature at 0 a.m. was 08 degrees at Tauranga. and other readings were: Wellington, 05: East, Cape. 03: Napier, 02: Opotiki, 01: Auckland, 01). Moderate seas were reported in the Cook Strait area, but above Cape PaUiser the sea was mainly smooth.
