WOMEN ATHLETES

Two Australian lady athletes, Miss Decima Norman and Miss Thelma Peake, have been included in a. list of best ladies’ track and field performances in the Amateur Athletic official publication of the Amateur Athletic Union of the United States. The records were compiled from results at national track and field championships of almost every important meeting; the American, Canadian and European championships, the British Empire Games in Sydney, and various district championships in the United States during 1938. Miss Norman is placed fourth in the 200-metrc sprint performances with 24 7-10 sec., while she is also listed in the broad jump, her 19ft. 03 in. gaining fifth position. Three places below Miss Norman in the broad jump list is Miss Peake, Queensland, with 18ft. 2£in.
