ARMY BOXING PROS.
NOT TO FIGHT AMATEURS Conditions have been laid dovvn in Britain under which professional boxers, who join or are called up for service in the Army, may take part in boxing. They are: — Professionals will be allowed to fight other professionals in army unit tournaments. Fights between professionals and amateurs will not be permitted. Contests will be for not more than six rounds. Prizes —not in cash —to the value of not more than £2 may be awarded. Professional boxers will be allowed to fight for purses in outside shows if the necessary leave can be arranged through their commanding officers. In such cases they will be allowed to accept purses. All army boxing shows will, be under the control of the Army Boxing Association. This means that outside promoters will not be permitted to stage shows inside camps.
