EAST OF SAAR

FRONT SETTLING DOWN

FACING THE WINTER

BERLIN HEARS GUNS

FIRE FOR 15 MINUTES

(Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Prose Assn.; (Reed. Nov. 15, 2.40 p.m.) LONDON, Nov. 14. A night communique issued in Paris states that great patrol activity, particularly east of the Saar, is being experienced on the Western Front.

As winter begins to grip the Western Front, the Allied forces are settling down. The new positions in the British sector are now transformed into a formidable line of defence bristling with tank traps, blockhouses and barbed-wire entanglements.

Berlin reports state that gunfire was audible in the city for 15 minutes this afternoon. No details are at present available.
