HOLOCAUST ON LAKE

BLAZING OIL FILM HUNDREDS TRAPPED RESCUE SHIP CAUGHT (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Nov. Hi, 12.30 p.m.) NEW YORK, Nov. 15. Further accounts of the destruction, by fire of the important oil port of Lagunillas, on Lake Maracibo, as reported yesterday state that hundreds of people were trapped in houses built on stilts. The flames spread rapidly over the oil film on the lake, in which hundreds of oil derricks stood. A rescue vessel was engulfed in the wave of fire and sank with all aboard. Within four hours only floating debris and smouldering piles were left.

An explosion of a kerosene lamp in a bar is believed to have been the cause of (he fire.
