NUHAKA PREPARES
EMERGENCY MEASURES CENTRAL MEETING POINT (Srocial to the Herald.) NUHAKA, this day. The Nuhaka Emergency Precautions Committee is bringing its .plans rapidly to a satisfactory stage, and further .progress was made at a meeting of tthe committee held in Mr. R. Steed's store this week. Mr. Steed, who was elected chairman, presided over a good attendance. Mr. P. J Brew ster was elected deputy chairman and secretary. It was agreed that in the event of an emergency the police station should be the central assembly point for deputy controllers. Mr. N. Bluck was asked to investigate some suitable form of alarm signal and to report to the next meeting. The minutes of meetings held by the Wairoa central body were read, and satisfaction was . expressed by members at the large amount of work done by that organisation and the lead given to the Nuhaka district. A vote of thanks was accorded to the Wairoa body. • It was hoped that at the next meeting. to be held on December 14. the sub-controllers would table full reports of methods to be adopted in the event of an emergency.
