WELCOME HOME PARTY (Herald Correspondent.) A. garden set in shrubs, with flower beds displaying prodigal wealth of colour, was the charming setting for a delightful tennis party given by Mr. and Mrs. Melville Gudgeon at their borne, “Wairoro." Tikitiki, os a welcome home to their daughter, Miss Cecily Gudgeon, who has been Karitane nursing in Hawke’s Bay for the past six months, and for their guest. Miss Shirley Bright, Gisborne.

Iceland poppies, cyclamen and gold marigolds were arranged in the hall and dining-room, in contrast with the pastel shades of lupins, phlox, and pale summer roses decorating the drawing-room, where a delectable afternoon tea was served. A buffet tea was partaken of in Lire diningroom, after which the younger guests entertained themselves round Die piano with community singing, accompanied by Misses C. Gudgeon, and W. Metcalfe, and Mr. S. Clayton.

Others present were Mr. and Mrs. N. P. Branson, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Kemp, and Mr. and Mrs. M. G. Thomson; Misses C. Fleming, P. Parr, W. Metcalfe, B. Goddard, S. Bright, PBerry and G. Williams; Messrs. W. Oldham, C. Turner, R. Metcalfe, 11. Anderson, W. Gudgeon, S. Clayton, and F. Maxwell.
